I began practicing yoga in 2008 when a new studio opened across the street from my office at the time. As a health and fitness professional, was active and had a regular exercise regimen, but felt that a piece of the total wellness puzzle was missing. I had been thinking about trying yoga, and when Yogawood opened up directly across from me, I had no excuses not to try! I took my first gentle yoga class and was hooked. I soon expanded my practice to vinyasa, yin, restorative, and other forms, and have been practicing regularly ever since. I love the way in which the body, breath, and mind intertwine in my yoga practice, offering both physical activity and internal stillness, and how yoga helps me to connect with others and myself in a way that carries out into my day to day life off the mat. After ten years of practicing regularly and feeling the increasing benefits to body and mind, I decided to take the next step in my journey.
In May 2019, I completed my 200 hour vinyasa training with Maiga Milbourne and Christie DiStefano at Yogawood in Collingswood, NJ and am now certified as an RYT-200 through Yoga Alliance. I believe that each person’s yoga journey and practice are unique. My teaching style focuses on the interaction of the mind, body, and breath, with structure that guides the practice, alongside room for each person to bring their own individual selves to the practice. My classes balance energy and fun with stillness and opportunity for focusing on the internal journey.
I feel that yoga should be accessible and available to everyone who’s interested in practice, and that giving back is part of living yoga in everyday life. I am passionate about bringing yoga to all, as well as using yoga as a means to contribute to community and build connection.
